Why the Main Thing Can’t Stay Front & Center

I used to be a very politically savvy person. I marched in Washington to protest abortion on demand, and I parked my van plastered with stickers as close as legally possible to a voting station. I still have anger issues when it comes to certain topics. No, I haven’t thrown anything at the TV…yet. But increasingly I have sensed the futility of getting so involved or even worked up over it.

My energy, passion, and resources were given to me to be made available to God for the expansion of the Kingdom. Anything that drains my resources for that end, should end. When the rule and reign of God expands, and people’s lives are affected, things change.

Does that mean I shouldn’t care what happens politically? No. But I can only get so involved or I become assimilated. Plus, some things in life are not as clear as the Democrats and Republicans want us to believe. Everyone claims to have God on their side. I remember watching Jay Leno interview Evander Holyfield one time. Evander was giving God praise, and talking about God blessing him to fight well. Jay asked what God did when both fighters were Christians and asking for a blessing.

Funny how we all claim God is on our side, when it’s His side we should worry about being on.
