Bored with Jesus?

I told our congregation Sunday that the church can get bored with Jesus (at this moment there is a pregnant pause for effect). I mean it…we truly can. How many sermons do we preach, or hear, where the name of Jesus is rarely heard? Oh, he may be used as a passing reference for some opinion, attitude, or theological pet doctrine, but to passionately worship, and speak of Jesus consistently is just…boring. How much can you say about the guy? Come on!

So, we move on to offerings, attendance, marriages, etc. Don’t misunderstand, there is much we should be applying God’s word to, and all of those certainly are important. But when we find ourselves in the position of having to find other topics because we’ve run out of good things to say about Jesus, we may be running on empty in more ways than we realize.
